The Great Three Days are the height of the Christian worship year. Please plan to join us for all three of these services, which are in truth one long service that begins with Maundy Thursday, continues on Good Friday, and culminates with the Easter Vigil on Saturday evening.
Maundy Thursday – Maundy Thursday is the day when we remember the first celebration of the Lord’s Supper and Jesus’ Commandment to love one another. This Worship service will include the ancient rite of foot washing, the sharing of the Eucharist, and the stripping of the altar in preparation for the stark service of Good Friday.
Good Friday – Our Good Friday worship is a variation on the traditional Tenebrae service, where our sanctuary grows darker and darker as we hear the story of the Passion of the Christ, and walk with out Lord into the tomb.
Easter Vigil – The Easter Vigil is among the oldest continuous rites of the Christian Church. A moving and beautiful service, it travels from the lighting of the year’s new fire in our labyrinth, into a darkened sanctuary where we hear the stories of our faith. From the acclamation of the Resurrection we gather around the font to remember our baptisms, and then around the table to receive the body and blood of our Lord, affirming ourselves as the Church, Christ’s Body present in the world. This is the night! After the service, we will celebrate the end of the Lenten fast with sweets and fellowship. Our Easter Vigil will be a joint service with our Presbyterian and UCC neighbors, and is open to anyone who would like to participate.
Our Lenten Mid-week services will be traditional evening prayer services, including Word and music. Each week, a different member of our congregation will share a short reflection on their faith journey. Please plan to join us for these wonderful services, … Continue reading
