Monday, April 15, we have an initial meeting of the Congregational Care Team. This group will work closely with Pastor Aimee on in-reach, helping her make sure that those in need of companionship, pastoral attention, and the care of the community are being tended to. Part of the work of this group will be to focus on Mental Health education and care. Anyone with an interest is invited and encouraged to attend.
This Sunday, April 21, we will take time to honor the life and ministry of Lee Lapointe. Lee has served God through her work at Peace Lutheran, Mercy Hospital, and throughout our community, for man years. Join us as we celebrate her and give thanks for her gifts.
On April 23, at 6:30 pm, we have an initial meeting to begin forming a Discipleship and Worship Committee. This group will be involved in various aspects of our worship life, including planning, decoration, altar guild, extra worship and prayer services, our blog, devotionals and retreats. There will be short-term and long-term commitments, so please do not worry about getting roped into more than you bargained for. Please join us!
On Thursday, April 25 at 7 pm, Peace will host Care and Counseling of St. Louis as they conduct a training in Mental Health companionship for several local churches. Anyone with an interest is invited and encouraged to attend.
Game Night: April 27, 2013. Starts at 6:30 pm until – ? We will be playing Bunco. Bingo or “Hand & Foot” cards will be available. Bring your favorite snacks and drinks. You are welcome to provide games or a movie for children. Contact Barb Johnson.
Our voting members for this year’s Synod Assembly are unable to attend. This means that we need to elect new voting members. We will hold a very brief congregational meeting on April 28. If you are interested in attending the assembly as a voting member, please contact Pastor Aimee or Bill Stewart. The Synod Assembly will be June 6 – 9.
Adult Christian Education Opportunity – the next adult bible study will be on the book of Galatians, running Monday evenings, beginning April 29. Class runs for 4 consecutive weeks, ending on May 20. We will use materials produced by the ELCA’s Book of Faith Initiative, designed to help adults open their Bible more. Workbooks are $5.50 each. Please signup on the sheet in the Narthex.
You are invited to a Missional Planning retreat on Saturday May 4 from 9am to Noon. This will be a time of faith formation and congregational planning. We will spend time dwelling in Scripture, listening to God and each other and planning our life and work together through the season of Pentecost and into the summer. All women are invited to the May Friendship Brunch at 9:30 am on Tuesday May 7, 2013 at Zion United Church of Christ in Union, MO. Our own Arlys Hopkins will talk about her trip to Vietnam. There is no charge.
