Christian Education is on hiatus until Rally Day in late August. Watch for other Adult Christian Ed opportunities in the meantime.
The planning meeting that was scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, July 7, at 10 a.m., has been postponed. With so many key leaders of the congregation on vacation and fielding other commitments, it seems best to plan a different time to gather. If you are interested in gathering to listen together and discuss how our congregation is being called to live out our Pentecost theme for the remainder of the season, please let Pr. Aimee know when you are available. Everyone is invited and encouraged to participate as we plan Rally Day, our outdoor service, the beginning of the Christian Education year, and other events for the late summer and autumn. A new date will be announced as soon as it is scheduled.
Take a look at the bulletin board in the Narthex! It illustrates the results of the last congregational planning retreat, which took place on May 19. As members of the congregation read through the scriptures for the season of Pentecost, they heard a call to Rest, Renew, Prepare, Grow, Build, and Respond – all To God’s Purpose. Over the course of this Pentecost season, we will be focusing a lens on each of these ways of engaging God’s promised and preferred future for the Body of Christ here at Peace Lutheran. You are invited to add to the bulletin board by bringing examples from your own life: pictures, articles, momentos, anything in your life that demonstrates these ways of engaging God’s Purpose.
Kids in need! Grace’s Place – Franklin County’s Children’s Crisis Nursery is in desperate need of new-unused baby, toddler, and kid size underwear, socks, and shoes. They must be new in a package for health reasons. Grace’s Place is very busy now that schools are not in session and many of the children coming to them are in need of these items as soon as they walk in the door. They are running out of these items fast. If you have donations, please either drop bring them to the church, or if you are able to, drop them off during business hours at Grace’s Place at 302 Lafayette St. in downtown Washington.
Marsha Posz is spearheading a committee of individuals to look into maintenance issues as they come up. If you are interested in serving on this committee, please contact Marsha. Also, if you notice any maintenance issues, contact Marsha and she will contact the appropriate person(s) to look into it. Marsha’s cell # is 636-667-1370 and her email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
A “Blue Jean Sunday” has been scheduled for September 23rd. After the service, we will work together to complete projects on our grounds and in our building. If you have noticed a job that needs to be done and could be completed at this event, please let Marsha Posz know. So far a few of the projects listed have been: Maintenance on our flower beds, touch-up painting, vacuuming the chairs, and repairing fissures in the parking lot, just to name a few. We are looking for someone to clean the carpets also. The rental of the cleaning machine has been generously donated by one of our members. This is something that can be done according to YOUR schedule, not on “Blue Jean Sunday.” If you are interested in donating your time to this effort, please contact Bill Stewart.
Marsha Posz has agreed to be in charge of checking on supplies and seeing that they get ordered. A process for requesting supplies is being developed by Susan Woodcock in the form of a spreadsheet. If you notice that we are running low on anything or you use the last of something, please let Marsha know either by phone 636-667-1370 or email email@example.com so that more supplies can be purchased. Thank you everyone!
