Christian Education is on hiatus until Rally Day in late August. Watch for other Adult Christian Ed opportunities in the meantime.
Our sister in Christ, Viola Hudson, died in February at the age of 86. There will be a funeral for Viola Hudson tomorrow, June 16, at 10:00 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend.
Mark your calendars! Saturday, July 7, at 10 a.m., we will gather for a planning retreat. During this discernment time, we will listen together and discuss how our congregation is being called to live out our Pentecost theme for the remainder of the season. We will be planning Rally Day, our outdoor service, the beginning of the Christian Education year, and other events for the late summer and autumn. Everyone is invited and encouraged to participate as we plan the life of our parish together.
Take a look at the bulletin board in the Narthex! It illustrates the results of the last congregational planning retreat, which took place on May 19. As members of the congregation read through the scriptures for the season of Pentecost, they heard a call to Rest, Renew, Prepare, Grow, Build, and Respond – all To God’s Purpose. Over the course of this Pentecost season, we will be focusing a lens on each of these ways of engaging God’s promised and preferred future for the Body of Christ here at Peace Lutheran. You are invited to add to the bulletin board by bringing examples from your own life: pictures, articles, momentos, anything in your life that demonstrates these ways of engaging God’s Purpose.
Pastor Aimee and her family will be on vacation starting after worship this Sunday, June 17, through July 3. During this time we are blessed by the gifts of Lee Lapointe and Randy Ridenhour, who are leading our worship and preaching the Word. If you have a pastoral emergency while Pastor is away, please contact Lee Lapointe or Maria Brady-Smith.
Kids in need! Grace’s Place – Franklin County’s Children’s Crisis Nursery is in desperate need of new-unused baby, toddler, and kid size underwear, socks, and shoes. They must be new in a package for health reasons.
Grace’s Place is very busy now that schools are not in session and many of the children coming to them are in need of these items as soon as they walk in the door. They are running out of these items fast. If you have donations, please either drop bring them to the church, or if you are able to, drop them off during business hours at Grace’s Place at 302 Lafayette St. in downtown Washington.
